Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our services.

How do I become a basketball official in Texas?

Start by registering with THSBOA through ArbiterSports, then join your local chapter like CCABOA. Attend our mandatory rules clinic, complete the required training, and you'll be ready for game assignments. New officials typically start with middle school and JV games.

What are the membership requirements?

All CCABOA members must register annually with THSBOA, maintain UIL eligibility, attend mandatory meetings and rules clinics, and pay chapter dues. We welcome officials of all experience levels, from first-year rookies to seasoned veterans.

How are game assignments distributed?

Our assignors work to distribute games fairly based on your experience level, availability, and geographic preferences. New officials build their schedule through middle school games, while experienced officials receive varsity and playoff opportunities.

When and where are meetings held?

CCABOA meetings are held at Incarnate Word Academy (2910 Alameda St., Corpus Christi, TX 78404), typically on Sundays from 2:00-3:00 PM during basketball season. Check our meetings page for the current schedule.

Can I have dual membership with another chapter?

Yes, THSBOA allows dual membership. You'll designate a primary and secondary chapter, giving you access to game assignments and training in multiple regions. Contact us to discuss how dual membership works.
